Casa do Gadanha has 12 double rooms, double bed and/or twin, with capacity for 24 persons, living room, dining room, a terrace, restaurant and bar.


At what time can I check-in?

You can check-in from 3pm.

Until what time can I check-out?

You should check-out until 12pm. 

Can I check-in at a late hour?

Front desk is available only until 6pm. However, you can check-in at a late hour if you request it earlier.

Can I check-in earlier?

Please bear in mind that check-in must be done between 3pm and 6pm. To ensure that you can check-in before that time, you should book the night before. Nonetheless, if there are rooms available at the time of your arrival, it is possible to provide an early check-in. Additionally, you can leave your luggage at the front desk, where it will be kept free of cost. 

Can I check-out later?

If you wish to stay in the bedroom after 12pm, please contact the front desk. Late check-out is subject to the availability of the room. The following additional fees can be applied: 50% of the bedroom price before 6pm; the total bedroom price after 6pm.

Is there wireless Internet in the hotel?

There is free wireless internet in all the hotel.

Is breakfast included?

Breakfast, when served at the restaurant, is included for all the different rooms. It is served everyday between 8am and 10.30am. In case of any food restrictions, please inform us when you make your reservation.

Can I have breakfast in the bedroom at a different schedule?

Yes, but only upon previous booking. This service is not possible on check-out day and can be subject to fees.

What are the terms of use of the pool and sun deck?

Use of sun deck and pool is free. However, due to the present pandemic, it must be previously requested so as to avoid that the number of guests exceeds the limit established by the new rules of social distancing. As long as these rules are in effect, sun deck and pool are available until 8pm.

Children under 12 are not allowed. Be careful regarding sun exposure (specially from July to September). The sun deck and terrace areas are not supervised, and the terms of use exhibited at the Hotel’s Front Desk must be respected.  

What is the working schedule for the terrace bar?

The terrace bar is opened from 5pm till 11pm. This schedule can be changed. If you wish a light meal or a drink outside the bar’s working hours, please check availability with attendant. 

After the bar is closed access is forbidden. Please be careful with the proximity of the stairs, since the alarm will be activated. 

Is there a shuttle service?

We can book a shuttle to and from Lisbon Airport with an additional cost.

Are pets allowed?

Due to legal requirements for the accommodation of pets, these are not allowed. Except guide dogs.

At what age are children allowed?

Due to the lodging’s conditions, children are allowed from 12 years of age.

Is it possible to get an extra bed?

No. All types of room allow a maximum of 2 persons per room. A reservation for 3 implies the booking of 2 or more rooms. 

Does the hotel have private parking?

No, there is only parking for loading/unloading. However, Rossio Marquês Pombal, the biggest and free parking zone of the city is just a 3-minute walk from Casa do Gadanha. 

Are there extra activities?

Yes, we offer several activities, that require previous booking, to help you enjoy the best of Alentejo. You can check these at http://www.casadogadanha.pt 

Is the hotel environmentally friendly?

Undoubtedly. Though we are not yet 100% sustainable, we implemented practices with the goal of minimising our impact in the environment. 

We partnered with a business of amenities traditionally manufactured in Alentejo, aiming to diminish carbon emissions in their transportation. To avoid unnecessary garbage, all packages and refill bottles are reused.  

Products are not tested on animals.

The common restroom toilets of the restaurant, given that they are used the most, have a system that allows reuse of hand wash water through the flushing devices of the toilets.  

We also ask for your help: reuse towels and bear in mind water consumption.

The bed linens will be changed whenever new guests arrive or, within the same stay, every 3 days. Guests can get an extra change, if justifiable.

General cleaning is done daily, upon request. For that, just flip the card on your doorknob until 11am.

Can I smoke in the hotel?

It is forbidden to smoke in the bedrooms, as well as in designated areas. However, you can smoke in the inner patio with the door closed or in the bar’s outside area, within working hours. Smoking in the forbidden areas implies the payment of a fine.

Therefore, we ask that you respect the other guests, and noise is forbidden before 8am and after 12am.


Reservations can be done at any moment, in person, by phone, through email or website.

What is the cancellation policy?

Our usual policy establishes that you can cancel or change your reservation, cost-free, until 14 days, before 12pm, of the first day of your stay. Guests can cancel free of charge up to 3 days before check-in. 25% of the total price is required at the time of booking.
The total amount paid will not be refunded in case of cancellation or no-show. Modifications are not allowed. If you cancel your reservation after that time, you will be charged for the first night. In case of a no show or early departure, the full amount of the stay will be charged. Any cancellation should be requested by email to reservas@casadogadanha.pt

How can I pay for my reservation?

You can pay by credit card (visa or mastercard). A pre-payment will always be requested to hold your reservation. We don’t accept cash. A security deposit may be requested.

How can I learn about prices?

The management sets prices in January of each year. These are always available at front desk. Prices are divided by seasons: low (15/10 to 31/3), middle (1/4 to 13/6 and 15/9 to 14/10) and high (14/6 to 15/9). National holidays are considered high season, even if they don’t match the given season. 

What to do if there is damage to the building or to furniture?

Our facilities are for the use of all our customers, according to the terms of use, and with objects in perfect condition. Accidents happen and we rely on the honesty of all and each of our guests. We ask you to tell us if you have broken or damaged an object. Regardless, we will always check if guests leave their accommodation with the same conditions as they have found it. Guests are accountable to pay for any expense caused by any possible damage.
